Gold
Where gold comes from and where it goes.
Gold is the shore's currency. The game tracks every coin that moves in a ledger, and most prices are set so that gold steadily leaves the economy, which is what gives it value.
Where gold comes from
| Source | Amount |
|---|---|
| New master | 500g to start |
| Selling to John The Cracker | His buy price x quantity (wood 2, iron 3, most produce 5), up to 500g a day |
| Selling a slave back to the barn | Half what it cost |
| Mining a gold vein in the deadzone | 15-30g when it's mined out (pickaxe needed) |
| Other masters | Auctions, the item board, trades, winning the Pit, looting a kill |
Where gold goes
Some spending moves gold to another master; the rest takes it out of the game for good.
| Spend | Leaves the game? |
|---|---|
| Buying from John The Cracker | Yes |
| Buying at the barn market | Yes |
| Buying from Crack Legs Jimmy | Yes |

| Selling gold on the exchange | Yes, for $SLVE |
| Auctions, item board, trades | No, it's paid to the other master |

These sinks are the base of the $SLVE fee model.
Dying
When you're killed, 60% of the gold you're carrying drops on the ground (banked gold is safe). Your killer gets 10 seconds to grab it first, then it's anyone's; after 5 minutes it's gone. Equipped armour, resources, seeds and produce drop too. Tools and unequipped armour are kept.
